For discussion about the second book, The Struggle.

I looooveed the passion they put into Damon/Elena in this book. It was like the awakening was for s/e and the struggle it was finally d/e.

Both sides of the triangle.

The attraction they had to each other in this book was amazing, and the were soo fun and interesting to read.

I think this one is my favorite. I love the whole (and slightly cliche) diary ascpect to it. Plus we get more Damon, and Damon is my favorite.

I think I have to say I like The Struggle more then The Awakening; I laughed a lot esspecially when I read about the Snowball effect; “Here, Margaret, let’s show your kitty to Robert’s friend,” she said, and thrust the fluffy bundle into Damon’s face, all but throwing it at him.
Pandemonium ensued. Snowball swelled to twice her normal size as her fur stood on end. She made a noise like water dropped on a red-hot griddle and then she was a snarling, spitting cyclone that clawed Elena, swiped at Damon, and ricocheted off the walls before tearing out of the room."

Or the thanksgiving dinner: "Just your average family sitting down to eat turkey, she thought. One slightly flustered aunt, worried that the peas will be mushy and the rolls burnt, one comfortable uncle-to-be, one golden-haired niece and her baby sister. One blue-eyed boy-next-door type, one spritely girlfriend, one gorgeous vampire passing the vegetables. A typical American household."

I noticed I'm getting to know the characters... at one point I was reading and thought something would happen and yes... it did happen exactly like I thought it would be. I can't recall the moment but I thought it was fun that I knew before reading it.

I finished the book in one go, couldn't put it down and even had to start with The Fury to know if I could go to sleep without keeping to guess what's going to happen....

Ok so I'm reading this one now- and I don't think I'll ever be a Damon/Elena shipper. I don't like Damon in the book- I think the reason why I like him in the show is because Ian's hot and he's funny. Anyways from what I've read so far- he's just not very likeable. He killed Stefan (with the sword) tries to ruin Stefans life in Fells Church, tries to kill Stefan again, tries to steal Stefans girl again, has to use his powers on Elena (Pervy crow and mind control) so he's just not very likeable to me.

Yeah he is not very likable in the first two books but he gets better in The Fury and Dark Reunion. Mostly because of what happens to Elena at the end of The Struggle.

Wow SO wasn't expecting Stefan to propose to Elena. Now I have more reasons to love him- though I wished he would of asked her with a different ring. lol Um so now I don't want to read the rest bc I know I'm going to be dissappointed by the end... lol

you totally speak my mind when it comes to Damon...in the book I dont like him...I'm only through the first 2 books now so I dont know what else will happen but in the show I like him because it's Ian and he's hot and he was the only one I knew before I watched the show...so I totally agree with what you said

This book was awesome. I loved that Damon changed in this book and it showed that he does have a heart . Love Matt's friendship with Stefan. Elena's dreamy dance scene with Damon sounded hot...another favorite moment of mine is when Damon kisses Bonnie. The ending was kind of shocking when Elena becomes a vampire and thinks she loves Damon. I also read a teaser at the end of the book of the Fury, can't wait to read it!

Forgot to add that I loved Stefan draining Tyler and all his friends then turning into a falcon, he was powerful on HB, reminded me of episode 17!
